My Vogue experience; Part one of many

For years my dentist trips were never something that I was afraid of, unlike most people I knew they had to be dragged into that sterile chair and be bribed with the most stylish sunnies and a new toothbrush.

I have always been told my teeth were close to perfect. They were healthy and straight, never needed a filling or any work done. I feel like it has/had a lot to do with my diet. I wasn’t a kid that had a lot of sugar in my diet and I never touched soft drink until I tried sprite for the first time mixed with alcohol, but even now I rarely have it, if at all.

But I am so thankful because in my mid 20's, my teeth are in amazing condition still and my gums are as healthy as ever. The only issue I came across with my teeth was in 2014 when out of no where with absolutely no warning at all, my wisdom teeth decided to cause me a world of pain. I have actually never been in so much physical pain in my life (not even over exaggerating).

Within about 6 weeks of pain from my wisdom teeth growing in the wrong direction, I finally went in and had to go under to get all four removed. That was absolute anxiety! I hated the thought of going under and the whole thing just didn’t sit well with me. Luckily my boyfriend took amazing care of me. The worst part was, that I couldn’t take the strongest pain killer they recommend (codeine) as I am allergic. I actually had an infection on my left side and it made me look like a Snapchat filter (or fat booth filter). I have the photo, but that would go viral and even though I laugh at it now, I couldn’t handle it being out in public accessible to anyone and everyone (HAHA).

After all of that, I hated the thought of going to the dentist, it terrified me. I obviously went for follow up appointments and my yearly cleans, but I then had this fear of the dentist, even though he was the coolest guy.

Moving forward to now. I have noticed over the last year or so, that my bottom teeth are getting really cosy with each other. I’ve noticed it change the way I smile, the way I look, my speech, my jaw shape etc.. My teeth and smile have always been one of my favourite features. I feel like that’s why I have always been so happy and smiley and confident. I have actually noticed that all change since becoming aware of my teeth and their changes.

I know this may seem like a minor deal to some. But I am a strong believer of loving who you are, flaws and all BUT this is something I have to do to maintain strong and healthy gums and teeth and maybe to get that bit of confidence back.

After many consults, second opinions and what not, I was told I couldn’t have Invisaligns due to the crowding being "to difficult" for the Invisalign’s. Until I came across Dr Dee at Vogue Dental Studios. Now Dr Dee is in Blackburn in Melbourne. I live in Brisbane. But after hearing how amazing he is and seeing his work all over social media, knowing people that have been to Dr Dee and he has transformed their smile to something incredible. I knew I had to meet him.

So yes, I flew all the way down to Melbourne (because it‘s so far from Brisbane – haha) and met with Dr Dee himself and his amazing team at Vogue.

My first impressions, I noticed they all have really nice teeth. But I also noticed that it isn’t like your usual dental studio. They had RnB mixes from early 2000’s as their wait room music, not just in the waiting room, but all through their studio (I love that!). I instantly felt comfortable from the moment I walked in.

During the consult, Dr Dee explained things like I have never heard a dentist be so thorough in explaining before. This shows how passionate he is and that’s he really wants the best for his clients, and he clearly knows his sh*t.

Dr Dee showed me this scan of my teeth, from where my teeth are now to what the end result will be and the progress in between (see pictures below). This is one of the best things about technology! So without leaving to think about my options or what I want to do, I was sold!! I booked in and it’s set. I am getting Invisaligns. I am so freaking excited to have my smile back and without having to get braces.

I am going to blog about my journey, about how it feels getting Invisalign and the changes that I notice within my teeth. I will check in every now and again.

I highly recommend that you get second and third opinions on everything in life, especially when it involves your health. If I didn’t and settled for the first Dentist, I wouldn’t have found Dr Dee, and I would probably not be happy and wearing braces (being a tad dramatic).

Dr Dee and his team are highly professional, and affordable. I am a huge believer in you get what you pay for. I am happy to pay good money to someone to do an amazing job rather than pay heaps less and get risks of infection etc.. The team at Vogue will help you out for sure!

Keep up to date on my journey, any questions about my experience with Invisaligns, message me on Instagram or email me at enquiries@dkrnjaic.com and I will happily answer, maybe even do a Q&A...?

Keep smiling! :)

Love & light,
